To all Parents and Players,
We are celebrating ANZAC DAY ROUND this Sunday 22 April 2018.
The Greensborough RSL are ecstatic that St Mary’s will join forces to commemorate ANZAC day together this year.
The Greensborough RSL have generously supported this event by providing two dignitaries who will be attending the 3pm games this week.
Bill and Berdine (female veteran who has just returned from Afghanistan) will attend the 3pm Colts game at Whatmough Park where they will address both teams and undertake the last post before observing a minute silence.
Bill will then toss the coin for the Colts 1 game and Berdine will do the same for the Youth Girls team at Greensborough Park.
Bill and Berdine will also be our guests of honour for our Sunday Night function kicking off at 5.30. Both will do short speeches to the entire football club about what the ANZAC spirit means plus Berdine will talk about her experiences in Afghanistan.
SO, LETS ALL GET BACK TO THE CLUB ON SUNDAY NIGHT AND SHOW OUR RESPECT TO OUR GUESTS BY FILLING THE ROOMS. Rooms open at 5.30 – Official speeches etc completed by 8pm.
Food will be provided to all players and a meal available at a reasonable cost to Parents.
On ANZAC DAY itself – Wednesday 25 April the Colts and Youth Girls will be participating in the ANZAC Day March, leaving the Greensborough RSL at 9.30 sharp. The Captains of the Colts and Youth Girls will both lay a wreath at the War monument.
On behalf of the Club, I invite all our members to also attend this important engagement – wear our club colours and support the RSL as well as our Colts and Youth Girls.
We will also be raising funds for “Legacy”. You will see Pins, Badges and other merchandise for sale at our grounds this weekend to support our return soldiers and veterans.
