Heritage Round. Round 12. 14 July 2013

As a part of the celebrations for our 40th Anniversary our Colts teams to played in our own “Heritage Round”  last week.  To commemorate this special occasion the boys took to the field in a specially designed once off Heritage jumper that was designed to reflect our past present and future.

We also officially unveiled the 2012 Colts 1 Premiership flag so it could coincide with this special day.
Members of our victorious 2012 Colts 1 Premiership Team were all there to celebrate our successes of the 2012 season and our 40th Anniversary.  All then stayed on to watch as our present Colts boys try to emulate this success and create their own piece of St Marys history with a stirring win of 4th place Ivanhoe.

The day was also a celebration of the many past members of the club who have been instrumental in building the club to what it is today.  A luncheon was held in the rooms to honour these past committee and life members with representatives from the League, the Banyule City Council, past teams and also our major sponsors.  It was a fantastic occasion and a true reflection on our great club.

St Marys Senior Club

A better weekend last week with 4 of their 5 teams getting over the line.

NETBALL: The Burra Birds continue on their winning ways with the A Team having a victory with their top of the table clash against Bundoora Comets. The girls getting the job done 29 to 25 in a tight affair and still remain undefeated. The B Team got up over Watsonia C winning by a similar margin 25 to 19 and also sits on top of the table in their section. Great going ladies.
UNDER-19: Two weeks ago after getting a bit of a thumping by Whittlesea would normally shake a team up into putting in a better performance the following week. Not to be unfortunately as Lalor took it right up to our young Burra outfit by kicking 11.9 in the second half to our 5.4 and running out winners by 18 points.

RESERVES: The good form continued last week with a solid win over Heidelberg West and getting up by almost 11 goals. A 65 point victory in the end will hopefully hold them in good stead for Reservoir this week, who along with Panton Hill, find themselves in a 3 way race for third and fourth position.

SENIORS: Being seriously depleted with players to take the field over the last 2 weeks does pose its problems but is no excuse for not giving your all. It was this effort that got the boys over the line as Heidelberg West appeared to run out of legs in the second half as we finally got up by a well fought 27 points. Another big effort required this week as they tackle Reservoir over at Crispe Park for the first time this season. Good luck to all.
