Round 1 - 29/4/2007 St Mary's 1.2.8 - v - Fitzroy 7.5.47
Slow to get going in the first half, against a physically stronger opposition. However, the boys were given instructions and goals at half time. They stuck to their tasks and played an even second half with the opposition. Well done for sticking to your guns!

Round 2 - 6/5/2007 St Mary's 8.18.66 - v - Doncaster 2.0.12
The boys went out with fire in their eyes, keen to atone for the previous week. Solid contributions from all over the ground, meant we went to the half time break ahead by 2 goals. Led by the newly named leadership group of Captain Corey, and Deputies Saad, Rockwell & Brown - a disciplined group ran away with a well deserved win! If we stick to our game plan, we'll have a good season - Well Done Boys!

Round 3 - 13/5/2007 St Mary's 1.6.12 - v - Heidelberg 1.10.34
A slow start to the game probably cost us the chance to be right in the game at the end. The boys stuck to their tasks, however, and we controlled much of the play in the second half, but we weren't able to convert as much as we would have liked. Thanks to Aaron, Matt Rutter & Archie for helping us out - Matt especially showed great leadership! Good effort after quarter time boys; if we focus early, we'll give all teams a real contest.

Round 4 - 20/5/2007 St Mary's 5.3.33 - v - Ivanhoe 6.8.44
A fantastic four quarter effort, and I thought we were unlucky not to get over the line. We stuck to our game plan: tackled, chased, harrassed - every player should be proud! A special mention to Jake for a gutsy four quarter display - and not far behind, were on-ballers James C., Corey and Jacob. Joseph had a blinder at full- back and our dynamic half-forwards, Tom McLeod and Nathan, worked tirelessly. Stick with it boys - we're getting there!

Jake - 2 goals
Nathan, Nick, Tom Malone - 1 each.
Jake, James C., Joseph, Jacob, Corey, the two Toms, Charlie & everyone else! Tom McLeod & Tom Malone.
Round 5 - 27/5/2007 St Mary's 7.13.55 - v - Doncaster 4.3.27
Kicking into a stiff breeze in the first quarter, we ran hard and outscored the opposition. It was a great effort. We did okay in the 2nd quarter, but nearly threw the game away in the third with a lack of discipline and commitment. However, we got back on track in the last, after a sloppy first few minutes - a Luke McCann screamer setting the side alight. Well done Boys - we've still got a way to go but if we stay focused - bring it on!! Thanks to Luke & Nick D. from Gold.

Round 6 - 3/6/2007 St Mary's 5.6.36 - v - Park Orchards 4.3.27
Well - what can I say? A really well contested first half of footy - we stuck to the rules and held a slight lead. We let ourselves down in the third quarter - enough said! We manned up in the last, played more disciplined footy and we were able to snag a win. They're a good side, Park Orchards - it was good to beat one of the better teams. Well Done Boys!
Thanks to Josh, Dean & Jarrod from Brown.

Round 7 - 17/6/2007 St Mary's 3.6.24 - v - SFX W'horse 8.5.53
We started the game switched on and at the end of the first quarter, it showed on the board. Kicking to the scoring end in the second quarter, SFX played good footy, while we let things slip a little and forgot team rules. To SFX's credit, they were too good in the second half - our on-ballers began tiring after working so hard early on. To the boys' credit, we battled on in the last quarter, creating a number of inside 50's, but the gap was too big. Next week, we need to focus, run and stick to team rules. Well done boys - well fought out!

James, Tom McLeod, Matt Ringin - 1 each. James, Corey, Jacob, Brendan, Nick, Tom McLeod, Stefan, Evan. Stefan & Matt - great improvement all round!
Adam - great first game!
Round 8 - 24/6/2007 St Mary's 0.0.0 - v - Fitzroy 17.8.110
Today we were overwhelmed by a very strong opposition that physically overpowered our team. To the boys' credit however, they never stopped trying, right to the end. We had a number of inside 50's that weren't rewarded and our backline worked hard all day under immense pressure. This is one game to wipe from the memory bank! Heads up - next week is another challenge.
Goal Kickers Best Players Encouragement
Corey, Baljinder, James, Charlie, Nick, Evan, Daniel. We never gave up and that was encouraging!
Round 9 - 1/7/2007 St Mary's 7.4.46 - v - Heidelberg 7.2.44
What a sensational win! I've never given a football team a real roasting at half time, like today. Rather than drop our heads though, we stuck to the rules and team plan, and what a turnaround. We slammed on 3 and pegged back Heidelberg's half time lead, holding a 3 point advantage at three-quarter time. Kicking against the wind in the last quarter, we played inspired, disciplined, hard footy! We broke away and were able to hold off a fast finishing Heidelberg. Great work boys - I could not be prouder of your effort (not necessarily the result!)
Goal Kickers Best Players Encouragement
Evan & James - 2 goals
Tom Malone, Baljinder, Tom McLeod - 1 each
We had 20 of them today! Charlie - tough as nails.
Matt Rutter - the same!
Round 10 - 15/7/2007 St Mary's 4.5.29 - v - Doncaster Heights 6.1.37
In reality, it took us three quarters to realise we had a game of footy on our hands. However, we did have more of the ball, but we just couldn't get it over the goals. Congratulations must go to Doncaster - they only had 16 players all day, but they were able to hang on! With 3 games to go, we need to stay focused, switch on early and go hard. We're still in the race - it's just a matter of how important the end prize is to you all. Well done for trying to the end!
Goal Kickers Best Players Encouragement
Evan - 2 goals
James, Tom McLeod - 1 each
James, Joseph, Corey, Evan, Major, Tom Malone, Nick. Corey - great leader's game!
Round 11 - 22/7/2007 St Mary's 2.2.14 - v - Ivanhoe 8.11.59
There's no doubt that all the players tried hard all day. Major and Baljinder set up good forward thrusts, with hard, disciplined work. Playing against the top team is never easy, especially when you are undersized. So, to the boys credit, they hung in the contest for the best part of the day. We have a big game next week - let's switch on and have a win!
Goal Kickers Best Players Encouragement
Corey, Nick - 1 goal each Jacob, Corey, Major, Baljinder, Brendan, Matt, Charlie & Tom McLeod. Kieran & Tom McLeod for following a new team plan to the letter!
Round 12 - 29/7/2007 St Mary's 6.2.38 - v - Doncaster 4.2.26
Today's victory was set up with a blinder of a first quarter. We stuck to the game plan, kept an open forward line and the result/highlight was 3 goals to Joseph. It was great to come away with another victory, especially on the day of Captain Corey's 50th game (well done Corey!). Tom Malone was a rock at full back; Tom & Kieren provided drive from their wings and Brendan had his best game for the season! Well done on the 5th hearing of our Club song!
Goal Kickers Best Players Encouragement
Joseph - 4 goals
Brendan, Nick - 1 each
Corey, Tom McLeod, Tom Malone, Brendan, Kieren, Joseph. Daniel & Marc for their successful run on the ball.
Round 13 - 5/8/2007 St Mary's 0.2.2 - v - Park Orchards 12.16.88
I was really happy with the way we started and satisfied with our effort for the four quarters of the day. Corey copped a nasty knock and left the ground in an ambulance - it was great to see him return after the game! Congratulations to Corey on a top game. To Brendan, Marc & Baljinder - well done on a great game. I have been really proud of everyone this season - well done for your efforts, application & willingness to learn and improve.
