Round 16 - 08/08/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 5 .4 .34 vs. Preston Bullants 10 .8 .68

Playing the top team in our last game was a great way to finish the season. The boys were fired up for the clash and both sides had had 7 shots each by half time. We probably didn't take our opportunities when we had the wind, but the courage of our boys could not be questioned. In the end we went down to Preston but I want to congratulate our boys on a good effort all season.

If the boys continue ti work hard and support each other we should finish the season on a positive note.

End of season celebrations this Sunday at Greensborough Football Club commencing 5.30pm. We have organised one of our own St Mary's players and Carlton champion Matthew Kreuzer to come along to say g'day to everyone. Food will be provided and everyone is welcome in what will be a fun night for all to enjoy. All club jumpers for any players/teams not playing finals must be returned directly to your Team Managerthis Sunday straight after your game. The club has arranged to have them cleaned & checked on Monday.

Round 14 - 25/07/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 13 .14 .92 vs. Bulleen Templestowe 7 .5 .47

We are back on the winning list after a tough encounter at Whatmough Park. With a full list of fit players, we quickly established a lead with some excellent team play. Apart from the 2nd quarter, the boys played great football when they were accountable for opponents, played on at all opportunities and ran hard. Great effort for Liam Bowkett and Jordan Sorani who both played 100 games.

Round 13 - 18/07/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 5 .8 .38 vs. Park Orchards 9 .4 .58

After a hard week at training, we were ready to tackle the muddy ground at Stinton Reserve. We had a very good first quarter but went missing in the next 2. Our last quarter was excellent and we outscored the opposition clearly. Unfortunately we kicked behinds instead of goals. Overall a really good effort by our boys.

Round 12 - 11/07/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 3 .6 .24 vs. Surrey Park 12 .11 .83

Even though the scores don't reflect it the St Mary's boys boys stuck to their task for the 4 quarters. After a poor start, we went man to man in the midfield and immediately saw good results. Our 3rd quarter was excellent and evidence of how well we can play when we have a go.

Round 11 - 27/06/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 3 .4 .22 vs. Greythorn 4 .13 .37

In heavy conditions we met a taller team who were determined to keep their spot above us on the ladder. We didn't use the conditions to our advantage and found that our wet weather skills were not up to scratch. Good games from John Desmond, Nick Gedge and Matt Galiazzo kept us in the game. We went down fighting - it is pleasing to see that our boys never give up.

Round 10 - 20/06/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 4 .3 .27 vs. Banyule 5 .12 .42

The first Bendigo Cup night game got off to a great start with a close contest. The St Mary's boys lacked a little in height but made up for that with courage and determination. The heavy conditions made for a game that required players to unselfishly attack the ball and get to the bottom of the packs. Nick Gedge received our best on ground medallion due to his fierce, determined play off half back.

Round 9 - 06/06/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 5 .4 .34 vs. Preston Bullants 13 .7 .85

We began slowly which was poor football against a hard, tough Bullants team. Our attack on the ball was not strong enough and our running game didnt get going. After half time, the boys put their heads over the ball and constantly attacked. Unfortunately we did not get rewarded for our efforts. We ran out the game despite being down by a big margin. It was pleasing to see most players were focused on trying to win the ball until the final siren.

Round 8 - 30/05/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 8 .11 .59 vs. Boorondara Hawks 2 .3 .15

An early game in windy conditions against a struggling Hawks team who were desperate for a win. To the Hawks credit they took an early lead and we had to fight hard to win the ball. Our team work improved and helped us take a lead in to half time. Our focus has been to improve our switch plays and be cleaner with finishing. The boys were showing good signs that they were focussed on these improvements.

Round 7 - 23/05/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 10 .11 .71 vs. Bulleen - Templestowe 7 .8 .50

We continued our winning streak with a good performance against Bulleen-Templestowe. A strong opening with Jimmy Boarotto on fire, got us an early lead. It was disappointing to see the effort drop off and we let the opposition back in the game. Our talk and run was poor. The boys , to their credit, fixed the problem and had a dominant third term. In the end it was a good win.

Round 6 - 16/05/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 10 .7 .67 vs. Park Orchards 9 .12 .66

This is one of the best games I have seen since Coach:ing at St Marys. It saw us win by the smallest margin in a victory that showed how disciplined our team can be when they apply themselves. The game was great in the way the boys played for each other and played to instruction. Our boys deserved this victory, particularly as they showed terrific sportsmanship throughout. A good sign for the remainder of the season.

Round 5 - 09/05/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 8 .8 .56 vs. Banyule 8 .8 .56

After reorganising our team and adding a healthy bench, we were ready to take on Banyule who were 3-1 and flying. We had a great start finishing the 1st quarter with 4 goals on the board. Banyule put pressure on and evened up the game by half time. We persisted throughout the latter half and with the best team work we have seen this year, we lead the opposition all day. It was only in the final 10 minutes that Banyule fired up and managed to bring the scores together. The game finished in a draw.

Round 4 - 02/05/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 11 .7 .73 vs. Greythorn 13 .6 .84

We met a taller opposition today in great conditions. Our first half was excellent as we teamed well and used quick play on football to score. Jordan Galea lead an energetic midfield who continually pumped the ball into our attacked. In the second half, fatigue hit us hard due to a lack of a bench. At 3/4 time the boys were asked to show character and not let the opposition have an easy win. They did precisely that and almost stole the game in what was a brave performance from exhausted boys.

Round 3 - 25/04/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 11 .7 .73 vs. Surrey Park 16 .14 .110

We began the game with a lively midfield who got many clearances which resulted in goals to Jordan Sorani and Cam Drake. The boys were holding their marks and working together as a team. Our second half saw us drop our pressure which let the opposition gain the upper hand. The rain came and Surrey Park used the conditions to their advantage to run out winners.

Round 2 - 18/04/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 7 .8 .50 vs. Preston Bullants 11 .13 .79

Great conditions for football at Preston City Oval saw a hard fought game played out. Our boys performed well for 4 quarters and it was pleasing to see a strong finish against a very good opposition. Whilst losing the match the boys finished the game with 13 tackles underlining that this team has a great appetite for the contest.

Round 1 - 11/04/2010 St Mary's Under 15's - 2 10 .10 .70 vs. Warrandyte 2 .7 .19

We began slowly with little evidence of team play. Fortunately Warrandyte were off target with a strong wind behind them. With more initiative being used by players in the second quarter, we bagan to hit our straps. Risk taking from increased confidence allowed us to take over and win comfortably
