Grand Final - 29/08/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 9 .3 .57 vs. Ashburton 7 .9 .51

We started the match on fire with Ferra at CHF doing a great job for the first goal and Josh, Jayden and Nader chipping in for first quarter goals. Johnno and Joey were everywhere with Brandon working hard in fwd line and Stroma laying a couple of great fwd line tackles. Ashy came back at us to kick late goals in the quarter and we went in 1 point up at qtr time. We failed to capitalise on our stats which were all over Ashy. The second qtr was a different story with Ashy making us look slow the way they moved the ball - our backline stood up and put pressure on the ball carrier to ensure we went in at half time only 9 points down. Loz and Anth were doing great jobs in their tagging roles. Lachie and Chez were holding up down back. We got on top in the 3rd with the team looking like they really wanted to win with Brandon and Jayden kicking goals and again were great across Half back - with Jesse giving us plenty of run and Fothers doing the job on their on ballers. Damo got better as the game went on and had a hand in 2 goals. The game was up for grabs at 3 qtr time with us being up by 2 points The last qtr was pure pressure from start to finish with Ashy throwing everything at us. Keenan recovering from a heavy bump chipped in with a mark and goal. The efforts by our team and backline were awe inspiring holding Ashy to 2 points in the last qtr with Bourkeys marking being a stand out. Macka really came into his own with marks and spoils and then there was the exceptional double spoil of Macka and Lachie to save a certain score and possibly a goal - Joshs tag was great in last qtr as were Ferra and Chez tight play and late spoil - Dobes worked tirelessly all day as did Joey playing a great captains game. The efforts of these young men were exceptional and made you proud to be associated with them.

Semi Final - 15/08/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 6 .5 .41 vs. Ashburton 4 .8 .32

The team started well, putting their heads over the ball early and giving us opportunities. Again the defense were great all day. Buckley down back, Bourke was great as were Chez, Bonello, Jesse, Loz and Macka. Dammo looked better for the run and Ferra's long kicking gave us plenty. The forward line worked hard with Brad, Jayden and Josh all putting their heads over the ball. The mid field worked exceptionally well all day.

Goal Kickers: Jesse (2), Joey (2) and Jayden (2) Best Players: Ruggieri, Buckley, Loz, Johnno, Dober, Keenan, Jesse and Jayden Encouragement: Kokoda - Ant Ruggieri - great job in a run with role all day - sacrificed his game for the team.

Round 16 - 08/08/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 12 .14 .86 vs. Park Orchards 3 .7 .25

The team started well with poor scoring but focused and reversed that in the 2nd quarter. Great to have Damo playing and having him getting involved in the whole game. The backs were again superb, letting nothing through. Egan and Dober were great in the ruck with Cary pinch hitting later in the game. Powell, Bonello and Loz did a great job all day and the forwards worked hard all day and the forwards worked hard all day. Thanks to Egan for helping out again. Great to have Rick today - good luck to him and Matt Atta at the Knights.

Round 15 - 01/08/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 11 .11 .77 vs. Macleod 6 .6 .42

The team started with a renewed energy and held against the wind in the first quarter. The whole team combined well with good energy - the backline were again great with Ferra, Bourkey, Jesse, Sam, Chez and Darcy combining well all day to strangle the opposition. The forwards were great with them working hard all day - Including Johnno, Joey, Brad, Stroma and Jayden worked hard. Egan and Dober worked hard in CHF and Ruck. The group played as a great team. Thanks to Matt Egan for his help.

Round 14 - 25/07/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 3 .12 .30 vs. Bulleen Templestowe 7 .7 .49

The team started slowly with Bulleen dominating the 2nd quarter. The team fought harder in the 2nd half but our kicking let us down with 11 points in the 2nd half. The backline were again good and many of our players carried injuries - the on ballers worked hard and our forwards started to work their way into the game.

Goal Kickers: Darcy, Brandon and James Best Players: Ruggieri, Amiguet, Tambakis, Loz, Chez, Bourke, Jesse, Posar and Bonello Encouragement: Kokoda - Cary Amiguet - was solid and worked very hard all day.

All raffle books that have not been returned must be handed back to your Team Manager this Sunday, sold or not sold. This must be finalised as the draw will take place at next Friday night's dinner dance. Thank you all for making the effort in selling these tickets.

Round 13 - 18/07/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 9 .10 .64 vs. Ashburton 10 .11 .71

In poor conditions, the game was tight all day. The team struggled to cope with the wet conditions but showed patches of brilliance. When the game was there to be won, Ashburton were more desperate. Free kicks cost us dearly on the last quarter. Thanks to Rick and Matt for playing this week and we look forward to getting some of our injured players back.

Round 12 - 11/07/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 12 .4 .76 vs. Preston Bullants 8 .10 .58

We came up against a well disciplined Preston side. We opened up well with the wind and kicked 5 goals. We worked very hard into it in the second and came in with a 3 goal break. We kicked an early goal in the 3rd and then went to sleep and Preston kicked 3 in a row. The game was on but the Colts 1 boys rallied and worked hard enough to win by 3 goals.

Round 11 - 27/06/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 16 .11 .107 vs. Doncaster 2 .1 .13

With only 16 players each and a wet ground the game provided something different from the usual. The team started well with great set shot kicking in the first quarter. Our running game continued to improve in difficult conditions. The backline was again unstoppable. Several running passaged in the last quarter were exciting especially Loz's run off half back. The team finished well and were spent.

Round 10 - 20/06/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 13 .11 .89 vs. Surrey Park 8 .5 .53

Team started well with Josh kicking 4 goals in the first uarter. Skill errors and poor kicking cost us a big lead in the second and third quarters but the team finished well. Ant and Joey were great in the clearances, with Loz, Bourke and Ferra great down back. The forward line started to work well with Jayden providing good contests and Josh crumbing well.

Round 9 - 06/06/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 11 .8 .74 vs. Banyule 5 .4 .34

Team started slow but teally worked into the game. Backline was again superb - starting many attacks which resulted in goals. Everyone contributed to the result.

Round 8 - 30/05/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 11 .5 .71 vs. Ivanhoe 7 .11 .53

The team went in undermanned today against a team that beat us by 5 goals. The team started well and really moved the ball well out of defence. All players ran well and played disciplined football. Matt Egan did a great job in the ruck and Jayden and Stroma worked hard down forward all day. Thanks to Matt Egan and Tom Cooper for their help today.

The team really came together today with great efforts by all players. With injury to Joey - Ant stepped up and played a great captains game. The team played well disciplined football, all players continued to improve and build on their season. The mid field was great and the back line again stood up to everything.

The team played disciplined footy today. When we used the corridor we were great. Many players stepped up, Chez, Loz, Brad and Jayden all showed improvement today.

The team put together all the things we have been working on. All players worked hard all day and kept running. The mid field worked well and improved greatly.

Round 4 - 02/05/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 7 .4 .46 vs. Ivanhoe 12 .9 .81

We came up against a very disciplined opposition. Our team improved from previous weeks in keeping the forward line open and our running was good in patches.

The team dominated most of the game with our running and our backline pressure was good. Kicking let us down. Good Endeavour at the footy, but use of ball has to improve.

Round 2 - 18/04/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 10 .6 .66 vs. Ashburton 9 .8 .62

The second game of the year turned out to be a really tight contest. We came up against a very good opponent in Ashburton. In the first half we were often hesitant and second to the ball. Our skills let us down early. At half time we were some 18 points down. After being challenged during the long break, the boys responded by working extremely hard and got over the line by 5 points.

Round 1 - 11/04/2010 St Mary's Under 17's - Colts 1 9 .5 .59 vs. Preston 7 .2 .44

It was the first time the team has been together. We started slow but bonded as the day went on. The midfield worked hard all day. The backline held up under great pressure. With the game in the balance at 3 quarter time and wind against is, the boys showed great character to come away with a good win. Many boys stood up in the last quarter which was very encouraging.
