Round Preliminary Final - 18/8/13
St Marys Under 12 Red - 4.5.29 vs. Richmond 10.10.70
Coaches' comments:
Today we played Richmond in a Preliminary Final at Macleod in VERY windy conditions! Very tough to read the footy in the air with the wind gusting so hard. Our boys got in and did everything we asked of them, creating contests all over the ground and punching it as it was being delivered into our backline. The boys never gave up and against the wind in the third, inside 50's were 5 a piece and we held Richmond to 2 goals. We came out strong in the last, our entries were 5 to 2 and we kicked another 2 goals. It was a fabulous effort today from the entire team.

Coaches' comments:
Congratulations St Marys U12 Red on your first final win!We came out hard in the first half and went in at half time up 19 to 1. Brunswick came out in the third quarter really hard and went into the 3 qtr time up by 4 points. Wat a credit to you boys, you responded perfectly putting pressure straight back on Brunswick, rather than fall over and let them win you bounced back to win the game! Lets do it again this week boys.

Not sure where to start today boys. Congratulations on making the finals! The way you all played today is a real credit to how you have all improved. We held Banyule to only 1 point and 5 inside 50's for the day. This team deserves to play finals, it was in your hands and you stepped up and delivered. St Marys Under 12 Red - 3.3.21 vs. Richmond 14.12.96
Coaches' comments:
Tough day at the office for the Red team today. We don't match up very well against Richmond, but then again who does?! We started really well today scoring 2 goals in the first quarter then held on in the third, but fell away in the last half. I feel that we didn't play bad footy, we just went a bit flat. Big game next week boys, we need to bounce back and win it.

Coaches' comments:
Today the boys worked together around the ball to keep it out of half back and move it quickly into our forward 50, with inside 50's at 33 to 3. It was inspiring to see us moving the ball so well on a very big ground, leading us to our biggest win for the year. It was an even team effort, with the boys looking and finding targets up forward. Keep up the good work boys, it's great to see our season turning around.

FANTASTIC TEAM EFFORT!!Today the boys played 4 quarters of team footy. We held the ball in our forward line forming the wall, held our marks, kicked well to targets, created leads and helped each other out all day. It was great to see all the boys creating contests, something we have all been working on.

Round 7- 26/5/13
St Marys Under 12 Red - 2.0.12 vs. Richmond 8.10.58
Coaches' comments:
Came up against a much bigger team today, not sure what they put in the water in Richmond! We got caught out early and Richmond were able to score freely getting the ball out of the middle quickly. Our use of the ball in the first half was lacking and we were not finding our targets. In the second half we started looking for our players, creating leads and holding our marks. This showed especially in the last quarter when we held Richmond goal less and kicked 2 for ourselves. There was a lot of encouraging footy played in the last quarter which was a credit to our boys. Well done Reds!

Coaches' comments:
Played well all day on a very big ground. Great team effort today with all players backing up, shepherding and picking up their opposition. All the boys played to their positions well and delivered the ball effectively into our forward 50. In the end we were stiff the siren sounded when it did, 30 seconds more and I think we would have had it.

Today the boys started well using the ball effectively, laying tackles and doing the team thing shepherding. Unfortunately we fell away towards the end, we lacked run and didn't pick up our players in defence, allowing too many uncontested marks.
