A new season, a new team and 12 players playing their first games for the Club! A terrific, hard fought win, with everyone contributing. Eight different goal-kickers says something about how these young men played as a team. Well Done 10 Blue! Condolences to Liam Mitchell on the sad passing of his Grandfather. You were great, Liam!

Round 2 - 6/5/2007 | St Mary's 11.7.73 - v - Richmond 0.2.2
A great first half, followed by a terrible third quarter, and then back to business in the last. When players decide to kick, chase and stop playing as a team, it only helps the opposition to get into the game. Let's work hard on Friday night and get back to playing good, hard team football. Thanks Jack Dean for helping out - up from Tackers. You were great! Match Day Captains - Thomas Spinks & Joshua Hancock.

Round 3 - 13/5/2007 | St Mary's 6.2.38 - v - Nth Brunswick 4.11.35
Very, very lucky to win against a North Brunswick team that never stopped. One of the toughest Under 10 games I've seen, with plenty of courage required. Happy Mothers Day, Mums - great singing in the circle at the end of the game. Thanks Jim Snell for helping out (Tackers White). Great game Jim. Thanks Mark Yeomans for umpiring - great job!

Round 4 - 20/5/2007 | St Mary's 1.4.10 - v - Greythorn 6.7.43
Although outplayed by a better team, the St Marys Under 10 Blue side fought hard all day, but found it very hard to kick goals. After a very physical game last week, we were better prepared to handle the bumps; but unfortunately, we came up against a Greythorn Team which moved the ball well and made the most of scoring opportunities. We have to make a real effort to make the most of training and be ready to work hard. It was a good effort and we will learn from the experience.

Welcome back Jim Plunkett. Sorry we couldn't win in Jim's first game, but for the second week in a row, we came up against a side that worked harder than us. We, once again, had some great individual efforts; but as a team, we weren't willing to run hard enough for each other. Next week, let's show Park Orchards the real St Marys Blue.

Round 6 - 3/6/2007 | St Mary's 1.5.11 - v - Park Orchards 8.9.57
Three quarters of hard work, undone by a poor third quarter. Having said that, our last quarter was as good as we can possibly play, and that is a sign of a team willing to work for each other. We just need to do it for four quarters. No training next week - enjoy the break parents.

Round 8 - 24/6/2007 | St Mary's 5.6.36 - v - Camberwell 3.3.21
When a team is behind on the scoreboard at three-quarter time against a side that's above them on the ladder, a special effort is required. Our boys gave us that effort to record a victory that may mean the difference at the end of the season. Fantastic game boys!

Round 9 - 1/7/2007 | St Mary's 14.12.96 - v - Fitzroy 1.2.8
A good effort against a Fitzroy side which never stopped trying. Team work was the key to all our goals and whenever we got a bit greedy, the goals dried up. Training at 4pm this week and no game on Sunday. Next game is at North Brunswick, so let's be ready for a tough game.

Round 10 - 15/7/2007 | St Mary's 4.1.25 - v - Nth Brunswick 5.3.33
Sometimes you walk away from a game and have a feeling of great pride and excitement. It's not often that you feel this after a loss. I can honestly say that what this team produced as a tough, smart, brave, skillful unit, gave us all a great thrill, and I look forward to the rest of the season, expecting bigger and better things. Sensational game boys!

Round 12 - 29/7/2007 | St Mary's 4.5.29 - v - SFX Wh Colts 2.10.22
When a team only kicks 2 points after half time, it's going to struggle to win. If not for the courage of our backline players, we'd be missing the finals. But the backs, including the Tackers who helped out, have given this team the opportunity of playing in two weeks time. While we have developed over the course of the season in skill and bravery, we are still having to work too hard because we are not thinking enough. A great effort to finish top four, but it all starts again with Park Orchards this week. Well done boys. Training early at 4pm on Friday.

Round 13 - 6/8/2007 | St Mary's 2.4.16 - v - Park Orchards 1.8.14
How this team keeps winning games amazes me. As I said after the game, "we're not the smartest team in the world, but we just might be the bravest". Finals time and with hard work, there is no doubt we can match any side left in it. Well done boys!

SEMI-FINAL: 12/8/2007 | St Mary's 2.6.18 - v - Camberwell 4.12.36
Although beaten by a better team on the day, our boys can hold their heads up high. A great season cannot be undone by one game. The improvement these boys have shown in ability, strength and courage has been sensational. Thanks to all the parents for their absolute united efforts in making this a great year and a very harmonious group. See you on Presentation Day.
