Round 1 - 29/4/2007 | St Mary's 8.6.54 - v - Glen Iris 4.6.30
The rain stayed away for this game, which was great for both teams, for their first hit out. Glen Iris - new to the competition - jumped us right from the first bounce, and the boys knew we were in for a big one! To our boys' credit, they stuck to their guns; stuck to the game plan, and eventually came out comfortable winners. Well Done!

Round 2 - 6/5/2007 | St Mary's 14.15.99 - v - Hawthorn Citz. 0.1.1
The feature of this team, is their hard running to get to a contest; their hard hitting to make sure the ball stays in their possession; their kicking, marking, hand-balling, tackling and talking, etc. This team should be playing Friday night, 7.30pm, on Channel 10! Well Done Boys.

Round 3 - 13/5/2007 | St Mary's 11.11.77 - v - Fitzroy 6.4.40
To Fitzroy's credit, they started the game as though they were on a mission. They had three goals on the board before we even looked like scoring. By half time, we were down by 15 points, and down on ourselves. In the rooms, I could see our boys start to pick themselves up by yelling at each other, "We can win this!!!", and they did. A great comeback boys, against a very good team. We are all very proud of how you went about your second half of football. Well done!

The end of the grading games, sees this team on top of the ladder. In every game we have played, the opposition has taken it right up to us with great spirit, including the bottom team, Balwyn. A really good team effort, boys, for a comfortable win.

Round 5 - 27/5/2007 | St Mary's 9.16.70 - v - Beverley Hills 0.4.4
Our boys had a 6 goal wind in the first quarter, and I believe they thought the wind would kick the goals for them! We only managed 2.4 at the first break. In the second quarter, against an even stronger wind, the boys - to their credit - knuckled down and kicked 3.4. From then on, they played an unbelievable game. Great stuff boys!!

Round 6 - 3/6/2007 | St Mary's 3.11.29 - v - Kew 4.6.30
As a coach, you are always asking the team to do things as a group, to make a difference. Today, the boys bled for their team-mates, for the St Marys FC, and for themselves. Once again, the Under 11 Champions, Kew, pipped us by one point in the dying stages of the game. I am over the moon at the way our boys played today, and just remember - with every loss, it puts us one step closer to a win. Great stuff boys.

Round 7 - 17/6/2007 | St Mary's 3.2.20 - v - Warrandyte 5.6.36
We came up against a well-drilled, hard at it, running team in Warrandyte. All day, they led us to the ball. Our boys showed some heart in the second half, but in the last quarter, Warrandyte could sense that we weren't going to give up without a fight. And like the well-drilled team they were, they slowed the game down to protect their lead. As I have said boys - first to the ball, will win it on the scoreboard. You guys know you are better than this. Let's Go Burra.

Round 9 - 1/7/2007 | St Mary's 5.4.34 - v - Ivanhoe 6.11.41
With the wind blowing a gale to one end of the ground, you would think it would only take one team to slam on 6 or 7 goals in one quarter, and that would be the end of the game. But this did not happen. Both teams played some great football and both teams' backline stood strong for the whole game. Our boys did everything they could but just got pipped at the last moment of the game. We are still in the race, so let's improve on this last game.

Round 10 - 15/7/2007 | St Mary's 4.7.31 - v - Glen Iris 1.3.9
A very wet and boggy ground; the conditions were very trying to say the least! Glen Iris were hard and tough at the football, having winners all over the ground. At half time, I asked the boys (who were yet to do things that only a few were doing) to step up and help their teammates. To these boys credit, they did just that. Well done guys!

Fitzroy always give us a good contest, and today was no different. Only one point in it at the first change; our boys started off a bit sluggish. After half time, the boys started their run on "at all cost football", with some great talk, handball and passing to each other, which put the game back in our nest! Go Burra!

A real good hit out to finish off the 'Home & Away' season. Today, we started off a bit slow, but by half time, we had momentum. Our third and fourth quarters were fantastic. Let's take this type of football into the finals. Go Burra, Go!!

SEMI-FINAL: 12/8/2007 | St Mary's 7.3.45 - v - Warrandyte 10.6.66
In the rooms before the game, the feeling was great and the build up just before the boys ran out was electrifying. We started the first quarter off with the same enthusiasm as what we had shown in the rooms. Quick hands and running the ball saw us kick the first goal against a strong wind. Warrandyte went into overdrive which saw them in front by the first break. Our second and third quarters were great. The boys did everything they could to give themselves a chance of winning the game going into the last quarter. In the last quarter, we threw everything we had at Warrandyte but their 4 bigger players played a vital part in holding us out, to see St Marys go down by 21 points. A wonderful effort by our boys - not just today, but throughout the whole year. To only lose 3 games all year and finish 4th, means the competition between all teams in this division is very strong and tough. This will only make you boys better footballers. I personally have had a wonderful time coaching a fantastic group of young boys. You have made me very proud, boys - and your parents are proud of you as well. Well done. See you all on Presentation Day (the 9th of September). Go Burras!!!
