Round 15 - 09/08/2009 St Mary's Under 13 - Gold 6.4.40 vs. Fitzroy 8.4.52

What a truly great effort by the group. Playing a very good opposition on a very big ground and with only 17 players. A tough year in a tough Gold competition. Today our tackling numbers were outstanding and our running excellent.

Round 14 - 02/08/2009 St Mary's Under 13 - Gold 1.3.9 vs. Kew 13.11.89

The group battled very hard for 3 quarters and had a very average 2nd quarter. Our tackling improved as the game went on and in patches we ran and hit targets. Just too many big guns for the top side! Well done for not giving in.

We would like to see every Coach:, Team Manager, Player & parents from all our teams who are playing their last game this Sunday at the clubrooms from 5.00pm on Sunday, so we can continue the St Marys tradition of getting each of these teams up on stage to recognise their efforts throughout the season.

Round 13 - 26/07/2009 St Mary's Under 13 - Gold 5.5.35 vs. Glen Iris 6.4.40

For 3 of the 4 quarters, we outscored the opposition. Just the 2nd quarter let us down with 5 goals being scored. We worked very hard around the contests and began to run and carry in the 2nd half. A disappointing loss, but lots of positives for the group.

Round 12 - 19/07/2009 St Mary's Under 13 - Gold 3.5.23 vs. Ashburton 7.10.52

We battled very hard all day against top 4 opposition. We just did not win enough contested footy and could not stop their run through the lines. Alot of positives and alot to work on in next 3 rounds. Well done.

Round 11 - 12/07/2009 St Mary's Under 13 - Gold 13.7.85 vs. Canterbury 5.1.31

We played a great running brand of footy today. Plenty of link-ups and breaking of the lines. Every boy made a contribution and worked hard in attack as well as defence. Thanks to Andrew Burgess and Liam McVeigh who filled in and were very solid contributors.

Round 10 - 28/06/2009 St Mary's Under 13 - Gold 5.4.34 vs. Kew Rovers 7.6.48

We played with no intensity and not enough run in the legs. Worked hard in patches but too often we were second to the ball. Must be willing to run when we are in attack but equally run when in defensive mode.

Round 9 - 21/06/2009 St Mary's Under 13 - Gold 9.14.68 vs. Ivanhoe 3.7.25

The groups best team performance, with great running. Great work around the stoppages, an even contribution from all players particularly when attacking. Must be more focussed on the defensive side, with accountablility and hard running to man up.

Round 8 - 14/06/2009 St Mary's Under 13 - Gold 5.3.33 vs. Warrandyte 7.6.48

There were alot of positives for the group today, the main one being our endeavour and efforts around the stoppages. Two very evenly matched teams with the opposition just finishing better on the day. One area to work on is our fitness and another being 'clean' hands. A good effort.

A reaard in the fighting victory! We worked hard in the contests and were willing to run to create space. Every week is a real challenge and having 18 players puts enormous pressure on the playing group. Fitness and mental toughness are areas requiring further attention. Well done boys!

Completely outclassed by the top side. Only positive being that we did not give in and kept working hard in final quarter. We must regroup at training and work on both offensive and defensive parts of our game.

A fantastic effort over the whole 4 quarters against quality opposition. We won alot of contested ball and were willing to run and carry. We know every week holds a challenge but with a high work rate we are always a chance.

Round 4 - 10/05/2009 St Mary's Under 13 - Gold 4.4.28 vs. Ashburton 11.8.74

The team started well and ran the ball into the forward line quickly and with real purpose. The 2nd and 3rd quarters were disappointing with our players second to the ball and not taking risks. We fought out the last quarter.

Round 3 - 03/05/2009 St Mary's Under 13 - Gold 1.8.14 vs. Surrey Park 8.6.54

A fantastic effort for 4 quarters by every player. Playing a taller and stronger team, we were always going to be against the odds. To the boy's cr, they never gave up! With a little bit of luck and a few more goals the scores would have been closer.

The team was good in patches today but could not put any consistent running play into effect. Against quality opposition, the team was too often second to the contest. Some positives but plenty of improvement required.

A real 4 quarter effort with the boys hard at the contest. Good running in tough conditions and good sharing of the ball, was really pleasing.

Very patchy performance and the team was never able to get their running game going. Compliments to the opposition who were more physical and intense at the contest.
