Last we played Kew we threw a handy lead at 3/4 time to go down by 1 point, today we were determined to learn by that defeat and turn it into a positive with a win and nothing less. 1/2 time it was a very even match however, an injury before 1/2 time turned the game around. We spoke about the movie "The Blindside" and focused on protecting our team mates, our pressure and commitment to the ball after 1/2 time was instrumental in our 34 point win to record our 5th victory for the season. thank you for the season boys. The game was played in perfect conditions on a great surface and big ground suited to the midfielders. The game was fairly even in the 1st quarter, however, we sustained a couple of injuries to key players in the 2nd and had to regroup. We stayed composed and by half time scores were even. After half time we took it up another gear and played some good football and found ourselves up by one goal at 3 quarter time. Unfortunately, in the last quarter we ran out of legs and went down by 14 points. The commitment to the contest and tackling was a key factor in our game today along with some really good passages of play. Backline really stood up today. Looking forward to our last game. After a slow start against an undermanned Canterbury we found ourselves down by 1 goal at quarter time. We spoke about areas we had to improve on which was our intensity at the ball and our commitment with the tackling. We also linked well at times. We found ourselves 2 points up at 3/4 time. Determined not to let this one get away we ran away with a 30 point win to make it 2 in a row. Great work from the backline / midfields and finished off with some fantastic work from our forward line. Go Burras!! |

It was a typical winters day of football. We were playing Fitzroy who were on top of the ladder with 9 wins and 1 loss, to St Marys 7th with 2 wins and 8 losses. Last time we played we lost by 69 points on Anzac day weekend, however, today was going to be our day. Our game was simple, we were the hunters and they were the hunted. It was going to be a "rugby style game" that we've been employing in our training drills. the result was a 37 point win. The backline held well all day and with our midfielders on top it gave our forwards every opportunity to score. Well done to all the boys on a memorable win. Go Burras!! |

We went into the game with a "Rugby style game" put in place but were badly let down with our commitment and found ourselves down by 4 goals by quarter time. Once we regrouped we focused on what we talked about at the start of the game and found ourselves at one stage in the last quarter within 7 points but unfortunately not good enough to get over the line. Pleased that you gave it your all. The tackling was much improved. Stay positive. |

Playing against 2nd placed Ashbuton wasn't going to be any easy game. We opened the game well scoring the first goal of the game, However, by half time they had scored 7 unanswered goals. The simple message that was given at half time was to make sure the final was respectable. To their credit they showed great character & pride at every contest & the tackling was the fiercest I have ever seen all year. Ashburton only scored 2 goals after half time. Take it to your next game. Go Burras! |

After some soul searching at training Wednesday night we addressed some issues that had gone out of our game in recent weeks. Today we came to play and we were not interested in excuses but were after a result. The will to win! It was great to see every single player today make a contribution. The teamwork and linking up was fantastic, especially after half time, our intensity when the ball was on the ground was also pleasing. Great to have a win boys. Keep it up Go Burras!! |

The one that got away! Gut wrenching when you have a 14 point lead in the 3rd quarter and then you kick the first goal in the last quarter in 50 seconds to lose by one solitary point. After a fantastic 1st quarter effort we really let ourselves down today and had our colours lowered by a team that was more intense in the stoppages and one one one contest. Our skill level is well below that from other teams. We need to be more clean with our hands and dropping easy chest marks is no excuse. It was a very disappointing effort. You can play a lot better than that. Bring it to the game on Sunday. No spectators!! |

having had no practice game under our belt we got caught out in the first quarter and were second to the ball, and our skills were down.We managed to pick up the tempo in the second but our kicking for goal let us down. Our third was the best quarter and by the end of the quarter we were only 3 points down. Last quarter we just ran out of legs and they went away with a comfortable win. look forward to the next game.
