It is a great achievement to just make a Grand final let alone win one, so I would firstly like to congratulate our 4 sides on their efforts to date but also wish them the best of luck on the weekend.
Do the Burra proud, play hard but fair and take your opportunities when they arise.
I urge all members to try to get to a game on the weekend and support your fellow St Marys players as they strive for the ultimate prize…..a Premiership!
This Sunday Night is our Last for the Year
This Sunday night is sadly our last of the year so let’s make it a big one. Everyone is invited back to celebrate everything about the 2014 season and hopefully our 4 premiership teams.
Pizzas will still be served free for the kids and there will be pasta served for the adults for a nominal charge. It traditionally is one of our biggest nights so I urge all members to come down to the rooms and enjoy, for the last time for 2014, the social side of our club and celebrate the season that was.
You will still have the chance to win a Seafood Tray valued at over $100 for only $2.00 in the raffle.
League Best & Fairest Awards
The league Best & Fairest awards were held this week with St Marys extremely well represented with 23 players invited to the night. Just being invited is an honour and means these players have all at least finished in the top ten. As a club we are very proud of all boys and girls invited with many polling well and picking up well earned placings. Special congratulations however must go to 4 players who each were awarded the ultimate accolade of Best and Fairest in their Division.
- Mason Blakey: Colts 1
- Conner Kissane :14 Green
- Andrew Abdulnour :13 Black
- Isaac Callaghan :10 Blue
Well done boys on outstanding seasons. You do the Burra proud!
Additional congratulations must go to Mason Blakey who this week not only won the League Best & Fairest in the Colts 1 division but Mason was also selected in the Colts Team of the Year. This is an outstanding achievement by a fine young man. On behalf of all the executive committee congratulations on these two honours.
We are very proud and lucky to have you playing in the Teal White and Black!
Congratulations to Liam Banthorpe
As a club it is always great to see one of our own enjoy some well earned success outside the football arena. Cricket Australia has just announced a 15 player Australian Under 19 squad to tour Sri Lanka next month and one of our members, Liam Banthorpe has been selected as part of that squad. That is an amazing achievement that Liam should be extremely proud of.
On behalf of the St Marys family I would like to congratulate Liam and wish him all the best for the tour. Let’s hope this leads to bigger and better things for his future.
Remaining Presentation Nights
Don’t forget your age groups up-coming presentation night. It’s a chance to congratulate the players on the year past, present the Best and Fairest awards and say thank you to all those involved in getting the teams on the park each week.
