Dear Members,
It’s hard to believe our home & away season is over already – thanks to all of our players, parents & officials for your contributions this year. I learnt early this year that our club is like one big machine, if any of the parts are broken the machine does not work correctly, and all of your efforts no matter how small you may think they are, are valued and appreciated.
To our Tackers , Under 10’s and those who unfortunately missed out on the finals, we hope you have enjoyed your year and grown as footballers and we look forward to seeing you back on the field next year. Not everybody can play finals every year, and we trust you can hold your heads high knowing that you have given the best you can.
We are lucky to have 11 of our 18 competitive teams playing in finals this weekend, most are located close to home at Bundoora, Doncaster or Bulleen, so if you aren’t playing and still need a footy fix it would be fantastic to see as much Burra support as possible at our games.
It is also necessary to remind everybody, that whilst football can be an emotional game and finals heightens these emotions more than ever, our club has high expectations regarding player, official & spectator conduct both on and off the field.
This Sunday & next Sunday night the club will be open as normal for a more low key experience, where all members are invited to celebrate their finals success or the end of their season. No raffles or speeches or adult meals, but the bar will be open and pizza still supplied for the kids.
From around the club:
Under 10 Lightning Premiership
Last weekend saw the inaugural Under 10 lightning premierships, held this year in lieu of ladders & finals. Both of our Under 10 Black & Under 10 Brown sides applied themselves brilliantly in what was a fitting end to their season. For those who are not already aware I am excited to announce that out under 10 Brown team walked away as Premiers in 2015! Congratulations to coach Brett Hancock, all of the team officials and especially all of or our little champs – a fantastic achievement.
