Dear Members,
On behalf of the club, I would to acknowledge the passing of one of life members last week. Des Price was made a life member in 2007 and together with his son Bill was a fantastic contributor to the growth of our club. Whilst I didn’t know Des personally, from speaking to other members who did, he was a much respected figure at our club during his time and was always the first to put his hand up for any jobs that needed doing. Our deepest condolences go out to Phyllis, Bill and all of Des’ family and friends.
Thanks to everyone who attended Ladies Night, by all accounts a fantastic time was had by all. A special thanks to Karen King & Ray Johnson for their efforts in organising as well as all of our supermodels in the fashion parade.
I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of our Youth Girls players, officials and parents who managed to raise $1298 for the McGrath Foundation as part of their pink sock initiative on our girls showcase day. Well done girls on your achievement and community spirit. This week our 15/1 girls will also be wearing pink socks to promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds for the McGrath Foundation. They are playing at Whatmough Park at 1 PM and will be getting around the ground rattling tins so please support them by giving generously.
Our next major function is our Sportsman’s Lunch on Friday 19th July from midday. For $50 you get a parma & chips as well as an awesome afternoons entertainment featuring David Schwartz, Cameron Mooney and comedian Tom Siegert. Speaking on behalf of everyone who was there last year – this is an event not to be missed if you are lucky to be able to negotiate the afternoon off work. If you are able to make it, can I urge you do us a huge favour and purchase your ticker now via this link http://www.trybooking.com/141067. Tickets will also be available at the canteen from this weekend or over the baron Sunday nights. I cannot stress enough how much it assists with organising and catering if people are able to book early.
As always, if you have any news from around the club that you feel should be acknowledged via our weekly newsletter please let me know.
This Sunday Night: is our second and final Tackers (U9) night of the year. With no school the next day this a great opportunity for all tackers players and parents to get down to the rooms and support your club. With speeches at 6 PM and raffles drawn at 7 PM you really do only have to give up an hour of your time if that is all you can spare. Of course, all other age groups are welcome this and every Sunday night.
Speeches – we will ask our Tackers coaches to give an update of the season thus far
Kids Pizza – served free of charge for all players & siblings at approx 6:30
Adult Meals –served after the kids for the budget price of $10
Raffles – Drawn 7 PM: a magnificent seafood platter donated by Fishi Business at Greensborough Plaza and the opportunity to win $250 cash in our joker jackpot.
Lucky balls – a number will be drawn out of the box and one player in attendance who wears that guernsey number this year will walk away with a $25 Rebel Sport voucher.
Next Sunday Night 5th July the club will be closed for school holidays. The week after 12th July is another special night on our calendar as we acknowledge our colts boys as part of the Heritage Round. We are also inviting all past members to the club on Sunday 12th July, both for the colts games & for the Sunday night celebration as part of an informal reunion. Can I ask that members circulate this date to any past members in your social or business networks.
*** Seeking an IT or Web Design expert *** – our club is desperately seeking someone to assist our communications director Dave Harris to make some minor changes to our website, either on a one off or ongoing basis. If you have specialist web design skills, especially in wordpress, and are able to help us out either on a volunteer or paid basis we would love to hear from you. Please contact either myself, 0413 266 484 or Dave 0419 724 374.
Sponsor of the week:
This week I would like to acknowledge our brand new food sponsor – Karve it Up in Greensborough Plaza. Nicola & Phil have generously donated all of our meat for this years functions, including our registration day sausage sizzle, our SALT nights, our final game celebration and out presentation nights – this saves our club a huge amount of money which can then be redirected into our football programs. Karve it Up specialise in grass fed, grass finished and naturally bred meats for all of your dietary needs. If you haven’t had a chance to check them out, they are located next to the post office on the bottom level of Greensborough Plaza and I can personally recommend the quality of their products and the exceptional service they provide. Please mention you are from St Marys when shopping as a way of thanking them for their support. See http://karveitup.com.au/ for more info.
Best of luck to all teams this weekend – Go Burra
