Week 5 of the season has come and gone and I am very pleased to congratulate our Under 10 Gold side who notched up their first win on the weekend.

After getting close in the first four rounds the boys, Coached by Ken Whiteman, played a stellar game knocking off an unbeaten side by six goals.

The boys ran all day and it was their quick movement of the ball that set up the win.
What a great effort and I hope a sign of bigger and better things to come.

Keep up the great work boys and more success is sure to follow.

This Sunday Night at the Club – It’s the Under 12’s Sunday!!

The club relies on these nights being a success so we encourage all members to come along.

This Sunday is the Under 12 Age Group night where we get the coaches and the boys up the front to talk about that round.

Pizza is supplied for the players and it’s a great night to get together and support the club.

We will also be serving Wedges and Dim Sims on the night.

Don’t forget the Joker Jackpot each Sunday as well…Last week we had a lucky member pick the Joker so she is $350 richer.  It’s back to $200 for next week.

St Mary’s Code of Conduct.

Unfortunately over the last couple of weeks there have been a few instances across differing age groups that have not reflected well on the club and certainly do not fit within the acceptable bounds of what we the St Marys Football club stand for.

Can I remind all members and players of a few key points.

Respect is the cornerstone of what builds a successful club. This involves not only respect for your coaches, your team, your parents, club officials and the umpires but also opposition sides and their members.

As we all know junior footy is primarily run by volunteers and is based on participation, fun and the opportunity to grow as individuals.  Unfortunately passion sometimes gets the better of us and the desire to win can cloud our judgement , actions and language.

I ask all members to remember that this is JUNIOR footy and as a club we have policies and procedures in place designed to deal with issues as they arise.  These polices will be strictly enforced for the remainder of the season.

Umpiring is an area of football that often creates the most discussion. The league is doing a fantastic  job at recruiting umpires and has had a large intake of first year umpires in 2013.

These new umpires are easy to recognise as they wear a bright green uniform. Whilst the club will not tolerate abuse of any league official I ask members to give particularly these new umpires encouragement and positive feedback as they learn their craft.

Remember without umpires we do not have a game. They are an integral part of the league and should be shown the utmost respect.

Ladies Night 2013.
Remember to keep Saturday the 22nd of June free for our annual Ladies Night.
This year it will be bigger and better than ever. Click here for more details or go to the Website or App.

All ladies get a free Daiquiri on arrival, entertainment by Fever Pitch, Finger Food, Gift Bags for Everyone and other Giveaways every half hour on the night.

It’s a great night and fills up fast so get in early.

St Marys Senior Club – Round 6

Coming off a week of no footy due to a bye the seniors should be fresh for the challenges of round 6.

This week we have what’s quickly becoming the local Derby with our Seniors and Reserves playing Watsonia at AK Line. The two sides should be evenly matched which again should produce some great footy. We all know where AK Line Reserve is in Greensborough Rd so why not get down there early and support both the Reserves and Seniors.

The 19’s who are sitting pretty in 3rd position on the ladder have a tough test this weekend playing ladder leaders Diamond Creek at Coventry Oval in Diamond Creek.

Don’t forget that a strong percentage of these boys are our Premiership Colts team from last year who have made the decision to stay with the Teal, White and Black.

Any support they can get on the day should make this top of the table clash a cracker.  I hope to see some of our members there for the 9.40 start.

Regards,

Andrew Sacco
