Dear St Marys GJFC Members,

It’s round 5 this weekend which means we are almost a third of the way through the season. With the league now having finished the “Grading” matches there have been some changes in a couple of our age divisions. These being the Under 10’s and 15’s.  These changes have been necessary to ensure these teams are playing in a division that better gives them the opportunity to play competitive footy, experience both winning and losing and hopefully challenge the boys to be their best.

  • 10 Green have been graded to 10 Blue
  • 10 Black have been graded to 10 Red
  • 15/2 have been graded to 15/1
  • 15/3 have been graded to 15/4

Please make sure you look at the League website to ensure you are up to date with these changes.

Girls Footy

Our Girls keep going from strength to strength with now over 60 girls playing in the famous Teal, White and Black.  Our Under 12’s are sitting comfortable on top of the ladder with 4 wins.  Our Youth Girls are hitting their straps with 2 wins and getting stronger each week.  Whilst our Under 15’s have yet to register their first win their footy is improving each week and it’s only a matter of time until they get to sing the club song.

I encourage as many of you as possible to get to down to Greensborough Park this weekend as all 3 teams are playing back to back with the Under 12’s at 11.30, the Under 15’s at 1.00 and the Youth Girls at 3.00pm.  It will be a great lead in to the Sunday night festivities for the Girls.

Sunday Night is Girls Night.

For the first time this year the girls have their Supporters night, this Sunday, May 18th starting from 5.30pm.  The St Marys JFC would love to invite every girl (player)and their friends to come along and celebrate a great start to the season!   We will provide complimentary pizzas for the players to eat and for the adults some beautiful Lasagna at a small cost of $5.00pp.  The bar will be open as well so please make the effort to come down and celebrate what is a huge part of our football clubs future.

In a first we will be presenting Rebecca Privitelli, a Western Bulldogs jumper, for being the first female footballer drafted from St Marys JFC.   We will then place the framed jumper up on the clubroom wall as recognition of her fantastic achievement.  We will also interview Rebecca about her journey in becoming a league footballer!   There will be the return of the Joker Jackpot – your chance to win $300 cash for just a $2 outlay !  Plus this year, if you don’t pick the joker you receive a consolation prize of a bottle of St Mary’s wine.

There will also be the Lucky Guernsey Number Giveaway.   A number will be drawn at random and a player who wears that Guernsey number this season will walk away with a $25 Rebel voucher.  If there is more than one player with that number we will draw for them again with the losers getting a consolation prize.

As a special treat another of our great sponsors, Fishi Business who are situated on the 1st Floor of Greensborough Plaza (Shop 123), has donated a Fish Tray valued at $100 to be given away each Sunday night.  Make sure you are there for your chance to win and make sure you go see Gary at Fishi Business for all your seafood needs.

That’s three chances to win something on the night!!!

As usual all are welcome to come down on Sunday night.

Sponsor Update

I have great pleasure in announcing that our local Bendigo Bank Community Branches have come on board as sponsors of our great club. We see this as a great union between two organisations with a real focus on community and community values.

We would like to encourage all our members to support them if you can by opening accounts and if you have any lending requirements please go through one of the 5 branches, being Eltham, Diamond Creek, Doreen/Mernda, Hurstbridge and Kinglake.

Have a great week and I look forward to seeing you all around the club.

Regards,

Andrew Sacco
